Contemporary Planting

There is no one clearly defined, or commonly accepted, contemporary planting style. However, planting schemes by many of today's leading designers do often share key characteristics. Collectively these can be used to loosely define the contemporary style. These are:

› Clean, simple, non-fussy
› Experimentation and rule breaking
› Emphasis on foliage forms and textures
› Japanese influences
› Frequent use of grasses, bamboos and other ‘architectural plants’
