Space Age Border
In short this is a striking contemporary mixed border of plants that have real personality combining to cosmic effect!
At 1.5m by 5m this is narrower than my other themed borders and should be backed by a wall or fence for climbing plants. Although foliage interest is perhaps the main attraction, there are plenty of flowers from June through to autumn, from the Dahlias, Passiflora and Agapanthus to name a few. Winter is not the best season for this border but there are plenty evergreens to maintain some interest.
Ten of the eighteen plants used in this border have been given the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Garden requirements
This is a border for those lucky enough to live in warmer parts of the country. There are several plants not fully hardy so if you get frosts then forget it. A warm sunny position with free draining soil is a must. Gravel or sandy soil would be ideal.
