From one off consultation to full planting plans, I offer a range of services.
Consultations
Do you need an ecologically informed perspective on a project you are working on or simply a consultation with an experienced planting designer? I can visit your office or meet you online. Email me to arrange an appointment. These meetings are charged at £70 per hour plus travel.
Planting Designs (In Excel)
For naturalistic herbaceous planting schemes, I construct the design in an excel spreadsheet and provide separate setting out instructions for the contractor. I also provide a sheet of labelled plant images and precedent images. These schemes are typically very dense, diverse and once established they are low maintenance. (From £1200.)
Planting Designs (Planting Plans)
Sometimes a conventional planting plan is more appropriate. This might be when there are shrubs and trees involved, or where a more traditional or historical style is requires (e.g. Arts and Crafts). (From £2500)
Wildflower Meadows
Meadows are more popular than ever and yet still very misunderstood in terms of establishment and long term maintenance. This is not an easy option but success is very much more likely with correct plant selection and appropriate density of planting. These can be sown in situ or planted with nursey stock. (From £1200.)
Grassy Sward Diversification
If you already have a grassy sward (area of unmown grass) but are underwhelmed by the results you might think about diversifying the sward rather than starting again from scratch. There is a tested method for planting into established grasslands. This is a relatively cost effect way to bring more colour to an existing meadow that is dominated by grasses. (From £1200.)
Rain Gardens and Bio Swales
These are unique components in a landscape that require particular attention when it comes to plant selection. Mostly dry and free draining but periodically flooded – this unusual habitat serves as a functional component in urban flood water retention, or simply as an attractive alternative to a soakaway in a garden context.
